A MAN has denied murdering a Carlisle woman at a house in Leeds.

George Chalmers, 54, appeared at Leeds Crown Court on May 3 having been charged with the murder of Ruth Baker, 48, from Carlisle.

Ms Baker was found dead at a house in Tempest Road, Beeston in Leeds on Saturday, March 30, according to West Yorkshire Police.

Emergency services were called, and she received medical aid at the time but was pronounced dead at the scene.

Chalmers, of Tempest Road, Beeston, has been charged with her murder and pleaded not guilty in court.

He has been remanded in custody and will face trial on October 2.

In a statement, Ruth’s family said: “We are saddened by our loss, however we want to remember her in a positive light and not be darkened by the circumstances of her death.”
