A VISIT to The Westminster Café in Whitehaven is always a lovely weekend treat.

The delicious food and drinks are great quality and the staff are always so friendly and attentive to customers.

The venue itself is cosy with modern décor and it’s a great place to sit and catch up with friends or just watch the world go by.

The café offers a breakfast menu (more on that later) and a brunch and lunch menu with soups, sandwiches, jacket potatoes and salad bowls.

There are also a number of pasta dishes on the main menu, a specials board and a variety of tempting cakes.

The drinks menu has a great selection of coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and soft and alcoholic drinks.

On Saturday, I went for breakfast with my husband and our four-year-old son and as always, we weren’t disappointed.

I ordered a hot chocolate to drink, which is my favourite. It’s rich, creamy and very chocolate-y! My husband, Kyle, ordered a mocha and says it is the best in Cumbria.

I ordered the smoked salmon with poached eggs on a toasted muffin to eat. It was presented beautifully and the eggs were cooked to absolute perfection with the yolk oozing out as I cut into them. There was a generous helping of salmon.

Kyle ordered a cooked breakfast, although it isn’t listed on the menu, the staff are always happy to accommodate this request.

He said it was good quality and he likes that staff are happy to make it to his own preference. Our little boy enjoyed his toast, juice and a delicious piece of Mars Bar cake too.

The breakfast menu includes toasted muffins with a range of toppings, Cumberland Sausage and egg muffins, smoked salmon and eggs, American pancakes and toasted fruit teacakes.

The café is very family-friendly and is a great place to take children as staff are always so accommodating. Dogs are also welcome and will be made a fuss of.

I’m giving the Westminster five out of five stars.
