Workington Town are looking to Wigan to help them out of a prop crisis at the club.

Town are hoping to take another loan player from the world club champions to bulk up their pack ahead of their trip to York City Knights on Sunday.

The club has been hit by injuries with both Phil Joseph and Joe Ryan now on the sidelines, in addition to some longer term problems.

"We are looking to fill that gap as Joe and Phil definitely won't play this weekend," confirmed Town's director of rugby Les Ashe.

"So we have looked back into the loan market and hopefully we will be able to get someone in from Wigan."

The clash at York is the final game ahead of the league split and barring two disastrous results, Town should finish in the top eight.

Town are currently in seventh with North Wales the only team that mathematically could put them out.

But Town have a much superior points advantage over the Crusaders with 179 differential separating the two sides.

"It is an interesting table and I can only really see two positions changing hands this weekend," added Ashe.

"Obviously there is the Cumbrian derby between Whitehaven and Barrow to see who will finish second and then whether we finish in seventh or eighth.

"Barring two miraculous results we should be safe with a points advantage of 179.

"But we are going to York looking for the win to make sure. We want to finish as high up the table as possible."

York have been hitting form recently and come into the game on the back of a 68-6 win against Hemel Stags.

Ashe added: "They have gone from not being part of the competition to becoming a top four side in the table.

"I think that speaks for itself on their form and they are certainly hitting it at the right time."
