Highly-rated west Cumbrian forward Jake Moore is set to prop up the pack for the remainder of the season.
And Town have also added Warrington reserve centre Danny Rasool on an initial month’s loan.
Moore, who left Whitehaven earlier in the season, has signed on the dotted line for Workington after a short spell back with amateur side Wath Brow Hornets.
Town’s director of rugby Les Ashe admitted they were keen to add the young forward to their ranks, and added: “We’d talked with Jake before he joined Whitehaven.
“It all happened very quickly this week and we had to rush to get him signed once protocol with his community club had been followed.”
Moore is a product of the Wigan Warriors scholarship and he signed pro terms with the current world club champions in 2013.
He has a great pedigree, having appeared in the Under-19 Grand Final for Wigan against St Helens and played for England Academy.
Ashe added: “He’s a strong runner with the ball and very athletic. He’s been in the Wigan system so is well coached, professional and disciplined.
“I’m really pleased he’s joined us and he’ll be a great asset to Workington.”
Centre Rasool has been brought in to fill the gap left by Ed Chamberlain, who has returned to Widnes to fight for a first team berth.
Ashe said: “Ed returned to Widnes to help out with a short-term injury crisis. He’s reflected and decided he wants to try and cement his place in the Widnes team. We’d like to thank Ed for his contribution and wish him well for the future.
“We’ve moved quickly to secure the services of Danny. He’s a big, powerful lad and will add another strong attacking element to the team.
“He’s trained with the team this week. It went really well and he fitted in brilliantly.”
