Workington Town will wear testimonial star Jason Mossop's jersey as their away strip in 2017.

The design is set to be revealed later this month and Mossop is delighted the club are supporting him in this way.

He tweeted: "Proud and grateful that @WorkingtonTown have agreed to wear my Testimonial shirt design as the club's away strip this season!"

The newly-appointed club captain is set to celebrate his testimonial next year and he has been out and about, spreading festive cheer at West Cumberland Hospital.

He has always been keen to use the event to support local charities and good causes as a way of celebrating and giving back to the community that has supported him over 10 years playing for Workington Town.

At the weekend, he visited the children's ward at West Cumberland Hospital to distribute selection boxes and books to the young patients on the ward.

He chatted to some young fans who were split down the middle as supporters of rugby league and football.

Jason said: "The kids were lovely and I was struck by how cheerful they were.

"I wanted to say hello and thank the nurses for the fantastic job they do all year round."

His testimonial will be officially launched at an event at Whitehaven Golf Club in January which sold out within two days of it being announced.

His brother Lee Mossop, who has just joined Salford, will be there, along with Wigan stars Sam Tomkins and Liam Farrell. The trio will be guest speakers.

Mossop is planning a series of fundraising events, running from January through to the end of the year.

The strong-running centre will support Copeland Occupational and Social Centre and West Cumbria Carers throughout his testimonial year.
