Tee Ritson could be set to return to Workington Town colours as early as tomorrow after recovering from a serious knee injury.

The talented young full-back has been named in coach Dave Clark's 19-man squad for the visit of London Skolars to Derwent Park, ko 3pm.

Ritson has been out of action since he suffered an agonising knee injury on Newcastle Thunder’s artificial pitch and questions were raised as to whether he would feature at all this year.

But he has defied the odds to return earlier than expected in a huge boost to the Town squad.

And in another bonus for Clark's side, Macauley Davies is also named in the squad after the Wigan youngster also returned from injury, as is Alex Szostak.

Gordon Maudling picked up a shoulder injury last weekend but he has also gone back into the squad as Town look to confirm their top eight place in League 1.

"It is great news to have them all back, " said Town director of rugby Les Ashe. "It gives Dave and the coaching staff a real boost going into the last three games and then the eights.

"It gives us competition for places which is crucial. Stevie Scholey is nearing a return and Kris Coward should be ready to start training in about eight to 10 days after a knee cleanout.

"Callum Phillips will be back available for the eights as well so by then we should be as healthy as we have been all season."

And he paid tribute to the club's medical staff and dedication of Ritson for his swift return.

"It is testament to our physio Nigel Douglas, conditioner Matt Johnson, and the coaching staff," said Ashe.

"But, more so, it is down to Tee himself and his dedication, he has followed his rehab regime and pushed himself to get back to fitness as quickly as possible.

"He has been gone since the third round of the Challenge Cup so I am sure there are times when he has been frustrated.

"This would have been a season where he really cemented himself into the first team after spending his first couple of years as a professional learning more about the game.

"And this is what you have to do as a new professional, you have to be willing to learn and work hard."
