Scottish international brothers Brett and Callum Phillips will both be back to bolster the Workington Town cause next season.

The duo, fresh from their Four Nations exploits, have both signed new deals to keep them at Derwent Park in 2017.

Town announced the duo had put pen to paper at the club's fans forum on Friday night.

Chairman Garry Mounsey said the duo would give Dave Clark's squad a great boost of experience.

And they also follow the club's plan of hoping to build up a strong Cumbrian side.

Mounsey said: "The club is absolutely delighted to re-sign two players of Callum and Brett's quality.

"We concluded the deal after they returned from international duty with Scotland.

"They had a superb Four Nations for Scotland and are a great addition to our squad.

"The experience that they've gained in an international environment will be invaluable to Workington as we go into the 2017 season.

"We announced the signings at a packed fans forum on Friday night and the cheer nearly took the roof off."

The brothers, who both signed from amateur club Seaton Rangers, played one game apiece in the recent Four Nations tournament.

Hooker, Callum, came on during the match against England at Coventry's Ricoh Arena where, although they lost, Scotland came away with the plaudits.

And second rower Brett was part of the Scottish side that made history by drawing with world number one outfit New Zealand at Derwent Park, which he described as his best ever experience in rugby league.

As well as helping Town adapt to life in League One, the brothers are also hoping to stay in Scottish coach Steve McCormack's line of sight for next year's World Cup.

Brett said after the New Zealand game: "We've got to keep doing our best and hopefully get selected.

"I think we have proved that lads who aren't full time can go out there and do a job."
