Scotland coach Steve McCormack is keeping a close eye on Workington Town brothers Brett and Callum Phillips ahead of the Four Nations.

The duo, who missed the last few weeks of Town's Championship season, through injury, have both been capped by the Scottish side in the past.

And McCormack says he has been watching their progress closely as he looks to assemble a strong squad.

"Both Brett and Callum are on our radar," admitted McCormack. "We know Brett has a bit of a hamstring injury but we have spoken to both players.

"And we are hoping that we will be in a position to name an initial squad next Friday.

"We have been keeping an eye on how they were both playing throughout this season.

"I know that both lads have played well before when they have represented Scotland, along with all the others."

Scotland will take on England, Australia and New Zealand in the high profile tournament.

And McCormack said he was looking forward to being based back in Workington as they take on New Zealand at the Zebra Claims Stadium on November 11.

"I can't wait," he said. "Obviously, the Four Nations is a fantastic tournament and in the past West Cumbria has been so good to Scotland.

"We have always had a really good welcome and the area really gets behind us."

"You don't often find the English shouting for the Scots but we have had that every time we have played there," he laughed.

"This is a great opportunity to show the rugby league world and the RFL that Cumbria is still a hotbed for the sport.

"And that, if you bring top class rugby league to the area, then people will come to watch."

Scotland’s class of 2016 will gets its first public appearance on October 21 when they play a Cumbrian Select XI in a warm-up for the Four Nations.

The game is part of the testimonial for Barrow stalwart Liam Harrison and will take place at Barrow’s Craven Park ground, kick-off 7pm.
