Tee Ritson burst back on to the scene with blazing four-try haul as Workington Town overcame London Skolars much to the delight of elated coach Dave Clark.

The comeback kid showed just what he can do as he bagged a hat-trick by half time in the 46-16 victory at Derwent Park before adding his fourth later in the game.

After overcoming a serious knee injury and being out of the game since February, Ritson marked his return to action with a man-of-the-match performance at full-back.

"It was good to see Tee at the back and in full flight," said Clark. "He had some space in front of him and it shows the quality he's got and what he means to the team going forward.

"He's got some ability and I think we saw that in pre-season, it was a shame he got injured the way he did.

"He's been out for a few months now so to come back and put on a display like that is fantastic and all credit to him.

"He's worked really hard. Tee is a true athlete and professional, he's looked after his body and made sure he can get back on this field as soon as he can and that's what you get from him.

"It was just really good to see players back, Macauley Davies came on in the second half and was strong but I think it was a whole team effort."

Clark was delighted to get the league points which, along with defeats for Doncaster and Keighley, moved Town up to sixth.

And the remaining two games ahead of the league split are now crucial.

He added: "I think the boys knew during the week that we needed a performance today.

"We had to be mentally focused on what we needed to do and not switch off and I think we did that today so credit to our players.

"They performed really well and got some points on the board for their hard work as well."
