In-form forward Stevie Scholey is a doubt for Workington Town's Super 8s clash with Doncaster on Sunday.

Scholey picked up a knock to his shoulder in the 28-18 defeat at York last weekend and will be assessed ahead of Sunday's home encounter with Doncaster, ko 3pm.

Head coach Dave Clark praised the stamina of the forward who has been playing long spells due to injury problems in the pack.

And he warned he would not risk Scholey this weekend if he is not fully fit.

"He has been playing a lot of minutes and he is a bit bashed up," said Clark.

"He has been doing a great job for us and playing longer because of a lack of replacements on the bench.

"Really he has been carrying our side with what he does out there on the field.

"We will manage his shoulder injury during the week and make a decision later on."

Scholey, a former Maryport amateur, has come in for praise this season for consistently good performances.

And Clark believes he is key to what Workington Town want to build for the future.

"He does his job for us really well, he gets the little things right, the things that people don't always see," added Clark.

"He is invaluable to us both in the short term and longer term. Stevie plays an important part."
