In-form Workington Town star Jamie Doran says he still has more to learn from half-back partner Carl Forber.

The duo have built-up a solid partnership this season and Doran has come on in leaps and bounds as Workington look to cement their place in the top eight of League One.

But he puts much of his progression down to the guidance of on-field captain, the experienced Forber.

“Carl has been at the club for a long time and I look up to him as a senior player,” said Doran.

“I'm enjoying playing alongside him and I'm always learning from him.

“I’m still only young and I hope we have a few more years still alongside Carl to keep on learning.”

And Doran admits his own form has rocketed as the season progressed.

“At the start of the year I was a bit ropey and I wasn’t getting in the starting line-up at the beginning,” he added.

“But now I'm really enjoying my rugby and I feel that it is showing on the pitch.

“I feel that I have had to step up as I was one of a few players left from last year and I knew I had to be a leader on the pitch.”

On Sunday, Town welcome London Skolars to Derwent Park, kick-off 3pm, as they begin a tough final three game run-in before the league splits in two.

The club is determined to finish inside the top eight and Doran says, if they can cut out silly errors, they can meet their objective.

“It has been frustrating to get into training at the start of the week after a game we have lost by four-to-10-or-12 points,” he said.

“And that has been the case a few times this year. It has been stupid errors or defensive indiscipline that have cost us.

“But these next three games are make-or-break for our season and we have to win on Sunday.

“It is really good to have two home games now because the crowd always gets behind us to help us.

“But this week I would be really happy with a convincing win, not just scraping through by the odd point.

“We had a good training session on Wednesday and after we got the win last weekend, I feel like we are ready to kick on.”
