Jarrod Sammut has quit Workington Town to join Championship side London Broncos on a two-year deal.

The 29-year-old half-back signed for Town 18 months ago after spells in Super League and was part of the side relegated from the Championship last season.

Sammut, who played four matches on loan from Wakefield with the Broncos last year, said: “I’m really pleased to be returning to London.

“My time with the Broncos in 2015 was short and sweet but something I really enjoyed and I’m looking forward to being a part of it again.”

London coach Andrew Henderson added: “Jarrod’s a talented and exciting playmaker.

“He has generally been known for his attacking ability and been described as a maverick but I have seen him mature as a player in recent seasons.”

Sammut joined Town at the back end of the 2015 season and helped propel the club up the table and earn a play-off spot in the Championship Shield.

He picked up three trophies at the club’s annual presentation evening after finishing the season as both the top try scorer and top points scorer.

The wily half-back was also judged to be the most influential player on the field after a strong individual campaign despite the club’s struggles.
