Half-back Carl Forber has handed Workington Town a major boost by re-signing with the club.

Forber, who has kicked more than 500 goals and made over 200 appearances for Town, is the latest player to commit to the club as they continue to build for the 2017 League One campaign and is raring to go for the new season.

Stevie Scholey, Theerapol Ritson, John Patrick, Jamie Doran, Jason Mossop and Alex Szostak have already signed to return to the Zebra Claims Stadium, with Tom Curwen also making the step up from the amateur ranks with Seaton.

Forber said: “I’m really pleased to be playing again next season for Town.

“I’ll be back playing with some senior lads from last season who are quality players and good mates off the pitch as well.

“I’m looking forward to getting into pre-season with our new coaching set-up.”

The deal extends Forber’s second spell at Town after he grafted to force his way back into the side last season with a strong run of form.

Forber made his debut for the club in a 44-18 Northern Rail Cup home defeat to Whitehaven in February 2007 and went on to make 75 appearances before leaving midway through the 2009 season.

After spells with Blackpool, Swinton and Oldham, he rejoined Town for the 2012 campaign.

Director Les Smallwood said: “Carl is a great addition to the new squad.

“He is a prolific goalscorer and he’s been a virtual ever present in the side.

“He distributes the ball really well and can move the team around the park.

“I helped sign Carl when he came to Town and his loyalty to the club is fantastic to see.

“He’s a level-headed character on and off the pitch and that’s what we’re looking for as we bring our talented youngsters through.”
