Disappointed Workington Town boss Dave Clark admitted his side were not good enough as Toronto Wolfpack ran in the tries at Derwent Park.

The league leaders won the Super 8s encounter 68-0 with Town unable to get across the whitewash in a lacklustre showing.

And Clark said his side did not stay in the arm wrestle, particularly in the second half when Toronto racked up the points.

"We got beat and beat well in the second half," said Clark.

"In the first half I think we had five negatives and they scored four tries off them so that's something we need to learn from.

"It's a simple game, you have to complete your sets and get to the other end of the field.

"We had some good ball opportunities but played some wrong options in the first half.

"I think we deserved to get over the line at some point in the game but in the second half we just weren't good enough.

"We didn't stay in the arm wrestle, I don't know why we thought we should kick early, we were playing for ourselves a little bit and we went away from the structure and shape."

Clark did take some positives from the opening 20-minutes when Town held their own, despite the wind and rain sweeping the ground.

He added: "At 8-0 after 20-odd minutes we were in the game and competing.

"I think the end result was probably always going to be on the wall. But for our players it was about playing for the full 80 minutes.

"It was a game that was always going to be tough for us. They were coming off a loss from last week against York and we were coming off a win against Newcastle so both sides had something to play for today but it was disappointing."

Clark confirmed they kept Callum Phillips and Tom Curwen off the field in the second half to rest the duo after slight knocks but he expects them to be fit for the trip to York City Knights next weekend.

"We have got a big game now next week," he added. "With York losing today to Keighley it will make it a little bit harder for us but that's the challenge we have in front of us."
