Testimonial star Jason Mossop is enjoying a rich vein of form at Workington Town – scoring tries in his side’s last four games.

Mossop has bagged six tries in his last four outings and Town’s director of rugby Les Ashe is confident the experienced centre can continue to lead the way.

“Jason certainly knows the way to the try line and his try scoring record just gets better,” said Ashe.

“It is good to see that he, not only contributes as a leader on the field but also in points form, scoring tries.

“He has picked up tries in the last four games and we all hope that they keep on coming for him. He is in a rich vein of form at the moment."

The club skipper is continuing to celebrate 10 years in the blue and white of Workington this season - with a testimonial golf day at Maryport tomorrow.

And Mossop has proven that becoming the club captain this season has not been too much pressure on his shoulders.

“Jason has been around the game and Workington Town for a long time and he has a good head on his shoulders,” added Ashe.

“He shoulders the responsibility of being club captain very well and he commands the respect of the players.

“A lot of the younger lads look up to him and the other senior players at the club.”

Town were due back in training last night but that was to be the only session this week as the players were given a lighter week by coach Dave Clark.
