Boss Dave Clark says Workington Town are not far off claiming a big scalp in Kingstone Press League One.

Clark was disappointed that Town lost out by just four points in the dying minutes of their home clash with Doncaster on Sunday.

But he insists they were not far off from claiming that all-important win against one of the league’s big guns.

“They know it’s coming from us so we are positive. We’re not that far off from getting a big scalp off one of these boys,” said Clark.

“We’re hanging in there, staying together and it will come shortly I’m sure.”

Clark admitted Town can be their own worst enemy at times but he says they are looking to rectify the small errors.

And he says he is impressed with the improvement in their defence.

He added: “The boys were disappointed after Doncaster, they know we’ve beaten ourselves a little bit.

“I think that’s happened three or four times this year.

“It’s not that we’re getting well beat throughout the field it’s just were doing things that give the opposition an opportunity to score tries or get field position to win the game.”

This Sunday, Workington make the trip to North Wales Crusaders hoping to get two vital points in the bag.

But Clark says they will not be ringing any big changes.

“Every week they say about a game plan but we have to worry about us and what we need to do,” he said.

“We worry about our shape and how we can improve as a te a m.

“We’re just going to stick to our structures and make those little things better.

“When we do it, we can give ourselves an opportunity to win a game and we need to do that next week against North Wales, which will be a good contest for us.”
