Workington Town boss Phil Veivers has praised youngster Tee Ritson on his development across the season.

Ritson has broke into the first team and held down a regular berth for the majority of the term. And he has impressed his coach with his determination and desire to keep pushing forward.

“Tee has probably been out most improved player over the whole year,” said Veivers.

“He started the season okay and then he had a little bit of a dip and dropped a few balls.

“I took him out for a couple of games and he worked hard and came back into the fray.”

Ritson made some telling breaks out of his own half in the win over Dewsbury last weekend and Veivers hopes his form continues for this Sunday’s derby clash with Whitehaven.

“He is very game for a little fella and he has a lot of strength,” he added.

“He has been great for us and hopefully he will step up again on Sunday.”

Town have five games remaining to try and ensure their Championship survival, starting with the derby at the Zebra Claims Stadium on Sunday, ko 3pm.

They will take on a Whitehaven side rocked by the sacking of coach James Coyle.

Some of the senior players in the Haven ranks are expected to step up and lead the team forward while the club searches for a new coach.
