Workington Reds have undergone a reshuffle in the boardroom.

One popular Reds supporter has stepped down as a director, to be replaced by another familiar face.

George Mackie has tendered his resignation to the board, while Mike Rollo has stepped up to occupy the vacancy.

A keen supporter of the club since the 1960s, Mackie was appointed to the board during the 2013-14 season.

He ran the day-to-day matters from the office, combining his duties with that of treasurer.

But at the turn of the year, family matters meant he had to curtail his involvement and the same reasons then prompted his resignation earlier this week.

A club statement said: “We thank George for his services over the last few years and trust he will continue to support the club from the terraces.”

Workington Reds has also been a major constant in the life of Rollo who has been in charge of the Social Club and bars over recent seasons.

His paperwork to become a director has been vetted and approved by the FA and he has attended board meetings in recent months.
