Workington Reds striker Jack Ryan will miss tomorrow's visit of Matlock Town, ko 3pm.

Ryan limped off with a knee injury during Monday night's 3-2 defeat at Shaw Lane.

And Reds co-manager Lee Andrews said the powerful forward could be out for several weeks.

"We are not sure how long Jack will be out for, it could be a few weeks," admitted Andrews.

"He twisted his knee on Monday and it is quite swollen. He is going back for another check today so we might know more after that.

"But he will definitely miss tomorrow's game and a couple of weeks. It is a shame as Jack has done well this season and he offers us something different.

"He holds the ball up well for us and brings other people in but we have Sam Joel coming back after he missed Monday night so we do have options."

Andrews said they were determined to put Monday's result behind them and concentrate on what has been a good year at home so far.

"Although we got beat on Monday it was an encouraging performance," said Andrews.

"We were dominant at the start and unlucky to go a goal down but we came back and so to go in at half time down again we felt was disappointing.

"But the second half was really scrappy and their second goal was unfortunate. It showed great character to come back again and get over that and equalise.

"However we were disappointed in the way we conceded the third goal."

Andrews admitted they were hoping to retain their unbeaten status at Borough Park when they welcome Matlock.

"This season we haven't always won at home but we are still unbeaten there and we want to keep that record intact," he added.

"If we can stay in games and keep tight at the back, the personnel we have going forward will create chances.

"If we play well then we will get the chance to win these games."
