Workington Reds striker Tom Kilifin says he's aiming to score at least 15 goals in his debut season at Borough Park.

The 23-year-old joined the club from Lancaster City during the summer and has appeared in five of his side's league games this season and both FA Cup matches.

Kilifin scored an impressive four goals in six games during pre-season, but his only league goal came against Sutton Coldfield last month.

He is competing with Scott Allison and Nathan Waterston for a starting berth up front following the departure of Gareth Arnison earlier this season.

He said: "I was delighted with my goal against Sutton Coldfield, but I've not been playing as well as I can.

"I did alright in pre-season, but as the season started I dropped off the boil.

"Scott Allison is going to be up there, but there will be times when we play two up front.

"Fifteen goals is my target. Every striker likes to score 20 goals and that would be nice."

Kilifin already knew midfielder Rob Wilson and defender Jake Simpson, prior to signing for Reds.

He was a regular for Lancaster, who he joined in 2012 following a short spell with Kendal Town.

The striker has come off the bench in the recent draw with Frickley, the FA Cup win over Shildon and the midweek win over Skelmersdale.

He added: "I'm new to this level, but I'll play wherever they want me to.

"I've come on in the last few games and done better. Everyone wants to start and sometimes you've got to wait for your chance.

"It's definitely a step up in pace. It's a faster pace in this league and, if you make a mistake, you get punished.

"When I was at Lancaster, I heard people saying there's no difference between that level and this level, but there definitely is.

"If you don't give 100 per cent in this league you get found out and we pride ourselves on hard work."
