Reds fell to their first defeat of the season when they put in a poor performance at Borough Park on Saturday.

The 1-0 loss was the Reds’ first of the season and Lee said the players will need “no encouragement” to give a strong account of themselves against the Derbyshire-based side.

“The players know themselves that the performance on Saturday wasn’t really good enough,” he said. “So they will need no encouragement to go out there and put things right against Buxton.

“We know that they are a physical team and they will possibly be even stronger than last season. It’s also a long way for us to travel on a Tuesday night after a weekend game, so it will be a tough match.

“But, if we are on our game, we can beat anyone in the league.”

Barwell clinched victory with a lone goal in the second half as Reds missed a penalty and a shot right in front of goal.

Andrews said that Saturday’s result was “just a bad day at the the office”. He added: “We gave away too much possession to the opposition and we need to move the ball around more quickly.

“But, I can’t fault the workrate and the attitude of the players – they gave it 100 per cent.”

However, joint-manager Dave Hewson said the Reds “didn’t deserve anything from the game” on Saturday.

“We were out-fought, out-battled and didn’t win enough first and second balls,” he said.

“It’s early on in the season. We’ve got off to a good start with two games and two wins.

“Unfortunately, we didn’t carry that on but the way the season is at this stage we can put it right straight away when we go to Buxton.”
