Midfielder Conor Tinnion is hoping to come back rejuvenated from injury and suspension on his Workington Reds return.

The 25-year-old is due to miss tomorrow's home clash with Hednesford Town after collecting his sixth yellow card of the season at Stourbridge last weekend.

And Tinnion is also nursing a dead leg and went off in the second half against Ramsbottom in the Integro League Cup on Tuesday.

Reds staggered past the Lancashire side on penalties in midweek and lost their last league game 5-0 to Stourbridge.

The Glassboys destroyed the Borough Park outfit by scoring all their goals in the first 27 minutes.

Tinnion said: "I don't think Tuesday will be particularly well remembered. It wasn't a great game and is not one anyone will be looking back on.

"I probably would have been struggling if I was meant to be playing on Saturday.

"I think the injury is going to be touch and go and I can't put too much on it."

Tinnion is reaping the rewards after being reverted to a central midfield role this season.

Meanwhile, the management trio will probably have to make do without Sam Smith, who has an ankle injury.

James Earl should be available, despite getting injured in midweek and it is not yet known whether Matty Douglas will feature after suffering damage to his eye on Tuesday.

Opponents Hednesford have made a strong start to the season following their relegation from the National League North last term.

They currently sit in fifth place despite losing their last two matches.

The Keys Park outfit have also recently lost their manager Liam McDonald and top scorer George Carline to National League side Solihull Moors.

Tinnion added: "Hednesford are doing quite well and they're up there. They've come down from the league above.

"After what happened last Saturday, we need to make a statement. Hednesford is up there with some of the toughest games in the league.

"We need to give a good account of ourselves and show that Saturday was a freak result and we need to prove to ourselves that we still should be around the play-offs."

A Christmas quiz will take place at Borough Park tonight from 7pm.

Entry is £2 and money raised will go towards club funds.
