It smells like team spirit at Workington Reds, according to boss Lee Andrews.

The co-manager hailed the dressing room camaraderie as the best he has ever witnessed.

And after the superb FA Trophy victory over Hartlepool United at the weekend, the close-knit group continue to reap the rewards.

"The team spirit in the dressing room is just fantastic," said Andrews.

"They will run through brick walls for each other, as we have seen this season.

"As the game went on, on Saturday, they just got stronger and stronger.

"I have never witnessed a dressing room with the team spirit that they have. It is just brilliant."

But Reds have now to knuckle down and get back to league basics as the busy festive period looms.

Workington begin with a home game against Nantwich Town on Saturday, before they head to Lancaster on Boxing Day.

This is followed up on December 30 by a trip to Stafford Rangers and then Whitby Town visit Borough Park on New Year's Day.

"We enjoyed the win at the weekend but then we have to start looking forward to Saturday and preparing for another tough game against Nantwich," added Andrews.

Nantwich are currently lying towards the bottom end of the table, in 18th position but have won their last three league games.

And their manager Dave Cooke is hoping for some joy over the Christmas period to see them move back up the league ladder.

He told the Crewe Chronicle: "Workington will be very difficult because they are beating everyone at home. It will be a stiff team-talk as I ask the lads to show how far they have come.

"But I’m looking for us to put a little run together. I don’t expect us to win all of our games in hand, we’re probably not ready for that, but if we can win three of them we’ll be in touch (with the play-off places).

"We’ve won four of the last five in the league and with a bit of form we could sneak into it. That’s what I want."
