Workington Reds boss Dave Hewson admits they will not be taking anything for granted when Hednesford Town visit Borough Park on Saturday.

Reds picked up their second win of the season on Tuesday night when they beat Altrincham 5-2 with Scott Allison bagging a hat-trick of goals.

But Hewson is well aware that they will have to replicate that form on Saturday if they are to secure another win.

"Tuesday gives you confidence and gives you a little lift, we wanted to turn corner and we just hope that this is it," said Hewson.

"But we don't take anything for granted, it is hard work and that's what happened on Tuesday night.

"A lot of hard work and endeavour went in to that game and we got the reward for it.

"Saturday brings another challenge but hopefully confidence is high and we can build on it and we will look for another positive result."

Hewson also praised his more experienced troops for steadying the ship on Tuesday night when Altrincham hit back.

Despite going down to 10-men the visitors managed to equalise at 2-2 before Reds pulled away for the victory with a further three goals.

Hewson added: "I felt like we went to panic stations a little bit and that's where you look to your experienced boys to rally the troops and get round and organised.

"The likes of Anthony Wright and Aaran Taylor in goal just marshalled the team from there.

"It was a worry but fair play to Altrincham, they had 10 men but they got the ball and they moved it quickly and got into good areas.

"You have to give them credit for having a go but unfortunately that also left them a little bit open at times on the counter and we finished the game off."
