Joint-managers Dave Hewson and Lee Andrews were delighted after Reds played for 66 minutes with 10 men.

Hewson said: “It shows just how much spirit there is in the team when we can battle like that when a man short.

“The way we came out in the second-half and were the better team was very satisfying. To score twice and collect the points was no more than we deserved.

“The only set-back is that we had a man sent off again. It was a red card and, unfortunately, James Earl is going to miss matches at an important part of the season.

“We have spoken as a group about discipline because it’s happened too often recently where we’ve had players sent-off,” said Hewson.

“Under the circumstances, after having James sent-off, the fact that we responded so well and deservedly won with 10 men, makes it our best performance away from home,” added Andrews.

Reds are due to host Stourbridge on Saturday but there could still be a possibility that crunch game will be replaced by a County Cup semi-final.

Pirelli beat Whitehaven amateurs 4-0 on Saturday in the delayed quarter-final and are due to host holders Reds in the semi-final.

Chairman John Mackay said: “A few negotiations will have to take place as we want to play Stourbridge on Saturday.”
