Workington Reds trail by just one goal at half time in this FA Trophy replay at Bromley, with the hosts holding a 2-1 advantage.

Reds matched Bromley for long periods of the half but their full-time National League opponents delivered a killer blow just minutes before the break.

It was certainly an action-packed start to this match with two goals within the opening six minutes.

Bromley looked to catch Reds cold after their mammoth bus journey to Kent for this tie and danger man Louis Dennis, who missed Saturday's tie, miss hit a an early chance for the home side when he looked certain to score.

Bromley were showing their pace and the game was only four minutes old when they broke again, Brandon Hanlan controlled the ball well and slammed a shot past Aaran Taylor in the Reds goal and into the far corner.

But Reds had the perfect reply as they headed to the opposite end of the field and Scott Allison did well to hold up the ball before Nathan Waterston rifled it home to level, much to the delight of the small band of travelling support, who were vocal in their support.

Reds were under increasing pressure as shots were coming from all angles in a crowded goalmouth and it took a superb headed clearance off the line from Anthony Wright to save the day.

Dennis was proving a thorn in Reds' side as he took his chance with a well struck 25-yard effort which just sailed over the crossbar.

Jordan Holt saw a good effort saved by the home keeper David Gregory and then, at the opposite end Gari Ronwtree came in with a crucial block.

Dave Symington then battled to keep the ball before feeding Nathan Waterston and the youngster took on the defence before he rolled the ball in but straight to the keeper.

Scott Allison also got into space but he over stretched and his shot lacked power and trickled through to Gregory.

Reds had to make a substitution on the half hour mark as Rob Wilson came on for Josh Calvert who looked to be struggling with an injury.

But the visitors continued to press their hosts and Holt turned to feed Waterston across the face of the box however this time the shot was well wide of the target.

Symington then came in with a superb clearance as Bromley looked to get the upper hand.

But Reds were dangerous on the counter. Tinnion then showed his pace and footwork and he worked his way up the left hand side and let a shot fly. It had the goalkeeper diving but it whistled just the wrong side of the near post.

Bromley were getting back into the game after weathering a Reds storm and the visiting defence were being tested to their limits.

Taylor held a shot from George Porter at the second attempt and then collected another from Jordan Higgs as Bromley looked to regain the advantage.

Sam Smith forced Dennis out wide to deny another good opportunity and then blocked his shot, putting it out for a corner.

Bromley were dangerous from set pieces last weekend and so it proved again as Dennis looked to curl the corner into the area but it went one further and sneaked in at the top corner to give them the lead.

Reds tried to get back into it before half time with Tinnion getting a good cross in looking for the onrushing Jordan Holt but he just couldn't put it away and it was the hosts who have the advantage by one goal at the break.
