Jorgensen, who has been bed-ridden for most of the last week trying to sweat out his illness, starred in Comets’ 51-42 win over league leaders Edinburgh on Sunday and played a big part in their triumph at Redcar on Thursday.
He said: “Redcar, I should have done better really but I’ve been struggling for about a week with flu and I just can’t seem to get rid of it.
“It really killed me on Thursday and I was meant to guest at Edinburgh for Newcastle on Friday but I had to pull out.
“Sunday, I was a bit better after spending the weekend in bed sweating it out.
“It was a tough meeting because they’re the leading team and have got some really good riders and we managed to beat them by quite a bit.
“I know it’s our home track but riders like Ricky Wells know it inside out and Sam Masters is quick no matter where he goes, plus the Riss brothers come from long track so they’re used to it.”
Comets’ No.5 arrived from Berwick this season with a big reputation as an all-action racer but suffered an inconsistent start to the campaign as he battled engine troubles.
He believes he is now over that and can concentrate on scoring the double-figure scores home and away which can keep Comets in the chase for their first ever league title.
“I’ve had big issues with engines and I’ve been struggling all year more or less with that but I’ve found something to work with,” he said.
“Normally I love big tracks, so it was just one of those things.
“I’ve spent a lot of money to get things right and it seems like it’s starting to pay off now.”
