Thomas Jorgensen can be the key to success on the road at his former club Berwick tonight (7pm start), believes the Workington Comets’ owner Laura Morgan.

The Danish rider was at No.1 for the Bandits last season, so knows their Shielfield Park track well and Morgan hopes he can pass that knowledge on as her team aim to keep their winning run going.

“It’s not ideal at all not having a home meeting but I don’t think Berwick are having such a good time this season, while we’re doing extremely well,” she said.

“I would expect to come away with at least a point because the advantage we have going there is that we’ve got Thomas Jorgensen.

“He’ll be able to suss out what the track’s like and figure out set-ups, then we’ve got Craig Cook and Ty Proctor who are very good in an advisory capacity.

“We’ve also got quite a useful reserve in Matt Williamson so, when you put all of that together, it’s sounding really positive.”

Comets started May with a defeat at table-toppers Edinburgh but recovered remarkably to win all of four of their remaining meetings last month.

Morgan said: “We’ve started the season as we intend to go on, so at the moment, I’m more than happy with the way things are.

“The team are gelling really well together and the change to bring James Sarjeant in hasn’t affected the nice team dynamic.

“One or two of our riders had a bit of a practice at Derwent Park yesterday because they missed out on track time at Peterborough, which was a shame.”
