Boss Tony Jackson wants more of the same from his Workington Comets riders this weekend as they look to keep their winning run going.

Comets have won their last three meetings ahead of a visit from second-placed Ipswich tomorrow (7pm start) and a trip to struggling Peterborough on Monday (7pm start).

As well as boasting British Champion Danny King at No.1, the Witches have former Comet Nathan Greaves at reserve, so Jackson knows they will be difficult opposition.

He said: “Ipswich have been one of my tips this season and the addition of Justin Sedgmen has actually made them stronger.

“We’ll have to be at least as good as we were against Edinburgh.

“The clashes between Craig Cook and King will be worth the admission money alone.”

Meanwhile, the Panthers have been unconvincing at home this season and plagued by injuries to key riders in recent weeks.

And with Cook having spent last season at the East of England Showground, Jackson hopes they can exploit the hosts’ weaknesses and come away with at least one more away point on the board.

He said: “They’ve obviously got a few injury problems as we saw at Newcastle where they had four riders missing.

“It’s a place we won at last year and they’ve shown themselves to be vulnerable at home.

“We feel confident going everywhere this season and we’re at full strength.”

A race night will be held at Workington’s Railway Club on Friday, June 23 to raise money for Comets.

Tickets for the event, which has been organised by Workington Speedway Trust, are £5 and will be available from trust members in the bar under the grandstand after tomorrow night’s meeting.
