A FIFTH win in a row and fourth in a week left Workington Comets owner Laura Morgan unable to hide her delight as the team pushed into the SGB Championship's top four.

Even without captain Ty Proctor, Comets proved to be the better side at Foxhall to come away with three league points and demonstrate yet again that they are a force to be reckoned with this season.

Morgan said: “That was another fantastic result on the road, and again it was achieved without a full team but with everyone doing their bit in another great team effort and I am proud of them all.

“Rasmus Jensen has continued his rich vein of form since dropping to reserve and his 15+2 points were a major factor in our success so that when we had falls or engine problems we were able to overcome them and go on to take the win.

“We were in contention throughout and, although the Witches picked up a couple of injuries, we were able to take points in the key races that saw us over the line for the victory.

“Naturally we hope that the injuries that the Witches suffered tonight are not too serious and we wish their riders a speedy recovery.”

Stand-in team manager John Courtney, who came in after regular boss Tony Jackson and co-promoter Steve Whitehead were unable to attend the meeting, added: "Thanks to all the lads who put in a tremendous amount of effort to gain the result.

"Mason Campton was fantastic as a stand-in captain, he was buzzing around the pits.

"Rasmus Jensen was just a colossus, he was immense and really we had to rely on him but he came to the fore.

"They were fantastic and working as a team, the morale was good.

"Those three points from Kyle Bickley made all the difference and if we didn't have them it would have been 46-44 the other way.

"Rene Bach was ill but took his three rides and that helped.

"Nicolai Klindt had mechanical problems and said it was the first time he'd ever had to change his bike completely during a meeting in this country and Dan Bewley gave 110 per cent effort.

"They made my first attempt at being a team manager easier."
