Workington Comets hope to trouble top-four side Somerset on their travels tonight before a hectic Premier League Fours weekend at Peterborough.

The Rebels thumped Workington 52-38 at the Oaktree Arena in the KO Cup in May and ended Comets’ unbeaten home run in the second leg.

But Workington are at full-strength, and Ricky Wells and ex-Rebel Claus Vissing should be dialled in to the circuit, having performed admirably there in the Premier League Pairs two weeks ago.

Jensen is another former Somerset star who will hope to secure revenge, having helped the Rebels to KO Cup success last season.

Comets owner Laura Morgan said: “It’s always a tough test at Somerset and we never expect to go there and win. But if we can go close that’ll do for me.”

Captain Wells, Vissing, Kenneth Hansen and Jensen will represent Comets in the Fours, with Mason Campton at reserve. They must top a group including Glasgow, Somerset and Scunthorpe to progress.

Five-time Fours winners Comets last clinched the title in 2009. But they first won the competition at Peterborough in 2001 and will hope to repeat that this weekend at the East of England Showground.

Morgan added: “Our previous record is excellent and it’s my favourite meeting of the season.

“We’re in a very tough group but you’ve got to beat these teams to win anything.

“On paper, we’ve got excellent riders there and Kenneth has got strong track knowledge.”

The revamped Premier League Fours features three groups tomorrow with an individual event for non-finalists on Sunday before the final.

Each group’s winner will join hosts Peterborough, who feature West Cumbrian rider Craig Cook, in the final.
