A four-figure crowd is what Whitehaven will be looking for on Sunday when they host the team everyone is talking about – Toronto Wolfpack.

Last weekend, their historic encounter with London Skolars was the first ever Transatlantic clash to take place in a major sporting league, and a crowd of 1,542 saw the Wolfpack cruise to a 76-0 win.

It was easily the biggest crowd the Skolars had played in front of and the majority of League One clubs are expecting the biggest crowd of the season when they host the Wolfpack.

Whitehaven does not have anywhere near the amount of exiled Canadians as London does, and they helped boost the crowd at Skolars.

But, having pulled over 900 for the derby with Workington Town, Whitehaven officials are hoping Toronto’s novelty value will entice even more through the Recreation Ground turnstiles.

Coach Carl Forster said: “We are all looking forward to it because their inclusion in League One has created a lot of extra interest and they are massive favourites to win the title.

“A lot of the Whitehaven team know the Wolfpack players, apart from the Canadians.

"We have seen their Challenge Cup game with Siddal on video and I think that’s more like the game they can expect at Whitehaven.

"They were on an artificial surface in London.”

Forster confirmed that Karl Olstrum is available to play against the Wolfpack.
