Carl Forster can’t wait to take on Championship side Halifax in the fifth round of the Ladbrokes Challenge Cup.

A comfortable 46-14 home win over Oxford set up the tie which will be played at the Recreation Ground on April 23.

Forster said: “It was a game in which we wanted to test ourselves but we were always mindful that we needed to be professional and do a job against Oxford.

“I thought we did that well and played some of our best rugby of the season.

"I was very pleased with how we went about the game, and to put ourselves clear by half-time was a big positive.

“Halifax will prove a test for us but it will be an indication of how this new-look squad is shaping. It’s a cup tie we will all be looking forward to.”

But before Haven can get to grips with the Yorkshire side, they have some important League One games coming up, including a Good Friday derby against old rivals Workington Town.

“We don’t have a game next weekend but then it’s Coventry at home followed by Town away inside a week,” said Forster.

“These are matches in League One we want to win and progress up the table.”

Paul Crook celebrated his 200th senior start in rugby league by kicking seven goals from eight attempts and also getting over for a try.

He had filed an early guilty plea to a disciplinary hearing earlier in the week and had been cleared to play.
