Workington Town legend Gus Risman to be immortalised in Wembley statue

Workington Town legend Gus Risman is to be immortalised in a statue outside Wembley Stadium.

Have your say

Fantastic news. The Risman family have been a credit to Rugby, sports fitness training, youth rugby and have been inspirational to many people. A replica of the statue would not go amiss in his home town. Chuffed to bits.

Fantastic news and well deserved, is it about time we had a similar statue in our own town centre !!

Edit.
Got carried away thinking it was only Gus on the statue! Probably fairer to have all included...and it also shows the quality of players Gus is up there with. Good day for the sport.

No wonder he was chosen if he appears twice in the shortlist!

But seriously, best choice by a country mile and I'm delighted. True legend.

Outstanding decision. The RFL get a lot of stick but this time they have it bang on. How can you choose between such greats of the game? This will be a wonderful memorial and it's both fitting and emotional that our great and legendary man Gus will be there, immortalised at Wembley. But he's immortal to us already...

How important are buses in this day and age anyway...?

If public transport is the future - why do councils insist on killing it off?

Very - for economy, environment and to prevent rural isolation.

They're not. Most people have cars.
