We are not getting carried away by Swinton result, says Workington Town boss

Workington Town joint coach Gary Charlton praised all 17 of his players after the 14-10 win at Swinton Lions on Sunday but warned: “That’s the standard we’ve got to play week in, week out.”
Town’s defence was outstanding in the second half as the west Cumbrians protected a 12-6 half-time lead.
“We just had to make sure we defended well and the rest would take care of itself,” said Charlton. "Any win away from home is good and three or four results like that and we’ll be sweet,” he added.
“It’s a good start for us but we’re not getting carried away. We’ve got to back those sort of performances up with good home performances and we’ll be training hard and preparing for the visit of Halifax on Sunday.
“They’re certainly no mugs as they won the Northern Rail Cup last season.
“We’ll take every game on its own merits. This season is all about challenging our own team. We have a good bunch of lads here and the team spirit is second to none.”
Town fielded just one Widnes player in winger Declan Hulme, who scored Town’s opening try.
Charlton added: “Declan had one training session with us and slotted in very well. He was solid under the high ball and ran the ball in well. But it was the performance from all 17 players that earned us the victory. Our defence was outstanding and that is something we will have to maintain throughout the season.”
Former Whitehaven coach Steve McCormack fielded a handful of Warrington players in his side and admitted that the better side won, Tweeting after the game: “@WorkingtonTown better than us today in all departments. Well done to them. Roll on next week.”
Town's players were also the first club to be awarded the Premier Sports Performance of the Week.
Jarrad Stack and debutant Callum Phillips were named in the Premiership Sports Championship Team of the Week. Whitehaven's Dave Houghton was also named in the team.
