RFL confirms Graeme Mattinson is Workington Town player

Hooker Graeme Mattinson has been confirmed as a Workington Town player for next season after a Rugby Football League probe in to his contract.
Red Hall looked in to the matter after receiving two registration forms for the 27-year-old – one from Town and another from rivals Whitehaven.
It is thought the deal he signed with Haven was dated September 1, the first day on which players from other clubs who are due to come out of contract can be approached, while Town went on re-sign him early this week.
But Haven are understood to have dropped any claim on the No 9, who appeared on the three-strong short-list for the Championship One player of the year honour, losing out to Doncaster’s Paul Cooke.
“The only contract for Graeme Mattinson that the Rugby League has registered is one with Workington Town,” said an RFL spokesman.
