Dave Petersen out of Workington Town game at Doncaster

Workington Town take on Doncaster at the Keepmoat Stadium tomorrow night (7.30pm ko) without the services of Hull KR’s Dave Petersen.
Dual registration signing Petersen is in KR’s plans for the Super League clash with Widnes on Sunday, and Town chairman Dave Bowden said there was no doubt that the 20-year-old loose-forward would have been lining up against Doncaster in the Championship One top-three clash had he been available.
“He came to Town at the beginning of the season to improve his game and now looks like being involved in Sunday’s Super League match,” said Bowden.
“We’re disappointed he won’t be playing at Doncaster but we are also delighted to see him step up after working so hard on his game at Derwent Park.
“Since the start of the season we have seen a big improvement in his game – he’s very strong in defence and he has added quality to the side.
“Dave’s influence in a game has become more obvious and that’s what dual registration is all about.”
Victory in south Yorkshire would see Town return to the top of Championship One after they were dethroned by Barrow last Thursday.
And it would see the west Cumbrians record a superb double after one of the best matches seen at Derwent Park in many years saw Town recover from an 18-0 deficit after 20 minutes to win 45-18 against the then Championship One leaders.
