Dave Rotheram warned that it was time to deliver after Workington Town slumped to a 30-20 home defeat against Swinton Lions yesterday.
Town travel to high-flying Barrow on Friday night for a Cumbrian derby clash and after just one win in six NL2 outings, the coach urged his team to turn promise in to points.
“We have shown glimpses all year, but we have to perform,” he rapped. “There’s no point saying we are nearly there.
“We have had long enough this season. You target all your home games, and we should be beating Swinton at home.
“We are the bonus point kings, but that’s not what it’s about.
“There are no prizes for bonus points. We need three points every time we play, not one.”
Prop Matthew Tunstall picked up a groin injury against the Lions, while Ryan Benjafield and Ryan Blair suffered heavy knocks to the head.
“We played really well in the first-half and probably made only two errors,” the coach added.
“We had all the field position but Swinton got a try just on half-time and went in 12-10 up.
“We probably deserved the lead. The start of the second-half killed us because we made four errors, missed tackles, and they scored a couple of quick tries. The game went away from us then.”
One high point yesterday was the continuing fine form of prop Dean Burgess, man-of-the-match following another inspired display. “He’s an outstanding individual,” said Rotheram. “He went way beyond the call of duty and showed great leadership.
