Robins' boss Justin praises Town

JUSTIN Morgan saluted Workington Town’s spirit after the underdogs produced a battling Challenge Cup display against his high-flying Super League Robins.

The Hull KR boss was full of praise for the League Two outfit, who posted tries from Carl Forber and Stephen Dawes in the 68-12 fourth round defeat.

“They did a great job and scored two very nice tries,” said Morgan, whose team included only five changes from that which last week beat Bradford Bulls 20-18 at Craven Park.

“They played the game in a fantastic spirit. Obviously there’s a difference between National League footie and Super League, and sometimes teams might look to take some short cuts, to try to be competitive, but they didn’t do that.

“They tried until the 80th minute and need to be proud of that.

“I know it’s been a tough season for them so far, but I certainly wish them all the best.

“If they can turn up with the attitude they turned up with today for the remainder of the season, I imagine they will win more than they lose.

“I want to thank them for a fine display, and a display in the spirit of the game.”

Rovers included a host of the key men, including Paul Cooke, James Webster and Stanley Gene, though Shaun Briscoe, Jake Webster and skipper Mick Vella missed out.

Town coach Dave Rotheram said: “The Rovers’ players know they have been in a game today.

“I think we won a few friends, and we have to take the positives, against a very good team, in to the rest of the year.”
