Workington Town sign Wigan and Salford players

Workington Town have swooped to sign two stars of the future for next season.
Wigan reserve grade star Thomas Brindle and Salford youngster Mark Hobson have both signed one-year deals at Derwent Park.
Prop forward Brindle, was part of the victorious Wigan side that won the Reserve Team Championship Grand Final at the weekend.
The 21-year-old came on off the subs bench to play his part in beating St Helens 32-10 at Knowsley Road, playing alongside former Hensingham amateur Lee Mossop in the pack.
Hobson, also 21, has captained Salford’s Reserves this year and can play at loose forward or hooker.
He was named as the Under-21 side’s players’ player of the year at a recent awards night.
Town boss Dave Rotheram is delighted with his two new signings, who he believes will have a good impact on the squad for 2009.
“Thomas has played at Wigan since he was 16 and he is now 21 and he also played for the England Schoolboys where I coached him,” said Rotheram.
“He has a great professional attitude. He has plenty of go-forward, has a good offload and is a great tackler.
“He is also young and enthusiastic and wants to do well in the game.
“Mark also has a fantastic attitude and is full of enthusiasm and I am hoping that this will rub off on everyone else.”
These are the latest two young signings to pledge themselves to the Town cause and Rotheram believes this is a great sign for the future.
He added: “We have not got 11 players signed up for next season who are 22 and under. This is a big challenge for them.”
