Cumbrian prop Matt Shields is relishing his chance of regular first-team action after leaving Harlequins and joining Rotherham Titans.

Shields, from Wetheral, has signed for the Championship club ahead of the 2017/18 season.

The tight head prop, 27, made eight appearances for Quins last season.

Former England Counties player Shields, who spent 12 years with Carlisle before spells with Newcastle Falcons, Nottingham, Plymouth Albion and Darlington Mowden Park, told the Titans' website: "I'm now at a point where I need to be playing more regular rugby.

"I'm excited by the challenge ahead and working hard with the team to get Rotherham back to the position in the league it deserves."
