Wath Brow Hornets are just two points behind the joint leaders of the National Conference Premier Division.

For while Siddal were winning the battle with Thatto Heath 34-6 when the two unbeaten sides collided, Hornets were coming from behind to beat Myton Warriors 30-20 at Red Beck.

It was an important victory for the Cumbrians as they had trailed 14-4 at the break after not being at their best in the first half.

The Hull visitors had started brightly and stand-off Nathan Slater, who had an impressive game throughout, scored two tries which were converted by centre Ashley James.

Wath Brow did get on the scoreboard in the first half as Jamie Devine crossed for an unconverted try, but Myton had the last score before the break when Kris Walker landed a penalty.

Strong words were clearly said during the interval for Wath Brow came out fired up and roared into a 22-14 lead, which completely changed the complexion of the game.

Winger Luke Davison, loose-forward Charlie Tomlinson and hooker Nathan Lucock all crossed for tries with goals from Cole Walker-Taylor (2) and Jake Moore.

But Myton came back strongly and cut the deficit to just two points as Slater completed his hat-trick and James landed the conversion.

But Wath Brow, despite having Dean Rooney and Walker-Taylor sin-binned, steadied the ship and while he was on the field, a try and two goal from Walker-Taylor wrapped-up the win.

Moore, released by Whitehaven last month, was outstanding for Wath Brow in the centre and he picked up the man-of-the-match award.

Kells are in fifth place, six points off the pace, after they won 24-8 at Pilkington Recs, who are now in the relegation zone.

They went in front with two tries from centre Lewis Smith and winger Jake Corrie, one of them converted by Ross Gainford but the hosts got over just before the interval with an unconverted try from Mark Ashton.

Kells pulled away again early in the second half as second row forward Connor Hetherington scored a try. Gainford converted and also added a penalty.

Into the last quarter of the game and centre Brandon Lewis gave Pilks some late hope with a try but, with loose forward Tony Burns playing an influential role, Kells finished well and substitute Grant Gainford went over for a try.

Egremont are back on the bottom of the pile after a 30-0 defeat at Rochdale Mayfield, although they were still in contention at half-time.

The hosts could manage only two tries from Jack Sampson and Declan Sheridan to lead 8-0 at the break when Egremont had played with a lot of spirit following the lead of substitute forward Tom Horner.

But they were rarely in it as an attacking force in the second half when Rochdale eased to a comfortable victory with tries from Paul Brierley, Sean Watkins, Sampson and Wayne English, three of them converted.
