Scottish prop Luke Douglas is appealing to Cumbrian rugby league fans to get behind them on Friday night when they take on the mighty New Zealand in Workington.

Douglas said the Scots have always received a warm welcome at the Zebra Claims Stadium and he is hoping for more of the same in the Four Nations clash.

Tickets are still available for Friday, with the Scotland side hoping to have a Cumbrian roar behind them, especially with the possibility of Workington Town brothers Brett and Callum Phillips being in their ranks.

“There are a few things to work on, and get ready for New Zealand,” said Douglas.

“We are hoping for a few supporters to come down from Scotland to Cumbria.

“I enjoyed my time there last time. The Cumbrian crowd really got behind us, and it’s a great little town.

“We got amongst the community last time, and hopefully they can get behind us again.”

West Cumbrian fans will also recognise the Scottish coaching team with former Haven boss Steve McCormack as head coach and ex-Workington and Whitehaven coach Dave Rotheram as his assistant.

Scotland earned all the plaudits on Saturday night in their clash against England but it didn’t stop their players and coaches from an overwhelming feeling of what might have been.

Leading until three minutes to half-time, one of sport’s great shocks was on the cards at Coventry’s Ricoh Arena, before four England tries in 13 second-half minutes turned the tide completely, Wayne Bennett’s team winning 38-12.

Scotland returned to training in Preston on Monday morning with several players tending to injuries, intent on being fit for Friday’s final showdown with New Zealand.

Tickets for the game have been selling well but there are still more available for the chance to see the number one side in the world.

Fans can buy tickets for the Town End from the Zebra Claims Stadium from 9am – 7pm today and tomorrow or online at Rugby-League.com/tickets
