Kells and Wath Brow are having to wait again to lock horns in the National Conference Premier Division.

Tomorrow’s scheduled fixture at Kells has been put back until July 15.

The first derby of the season at Wath Brow was postponed because of the weather conditions and the two clubs are now looking at a re-arranged date in September.

Peter Smith, the Kells coach, said: “Ian Rooney, the Wath Brow coach, asked me early in the season about this weekend as they have a big club wedding.

“It was the same for us last weekend when we had Tyrone Dalton’s wedding, so we would have been unable to play then.

“July 15 has been confirmed for the game at our place and I will be talking to Ian about the game at the Brow.

"We are both looking at September, although I think the league is getting a bit anxious.”

None of the three west Cumbrian sides in the Premier Division were involved last weekend because none have entered the Challenge Trophy.

With 22 competitive matches in the Premier Division, it was felt that this was a suitable competition to sit-out – and most of the top flight club have not entered.

Egremont, however, are in action tomorrow in the league when they host Wigan St Patrick’s at Gillfoot.

Remarkably, after two consecutive victories, Egremont have the best recent record in the Premier Division.

Wins over Leigh Miners Rangers and Skirlaugh have lifted Egremont to third bottom and within sight of safety.

Victory tomorrow would lift them out of the relegation zone as St Pat’s are only a point better off and between them are Skirlaugh on the same points total.

The top three in the Cumbria Men’s League are all involved in tomorrow’s programme.

Champions Distington went back on top, albeit on points differential from two extra games played, when they won 29-22 at Walney Central.

Tomorrow, they host Walney in the quick return fixture – a scenario that’s usually best avoided.

Hensingham, level on points with Distington but with those two games in hand, visit Glasson.

Last Friday, Glasson were stunned when they were hammered 64-16 by the bottom side Seaton, so surely will be looking to regain some damaged pride against rejuvenated Hensingham.

The other game involves Seaton and, after disposing of Glasson, they should be confident of putting one over on Ulverston when they visit west Cumbria.

Ulverston are now bottom of the table with just four points from nine game.

In the Iggesund Cumberland ARL, there is now just one game scheduled.

The top versus bottom clash at Broughton, where Red Rose were due to entertain Cockermouth, has been put back until July 22.

The only game now being played is at Lowca where the hosts, next to bottom of the league, have Aspatria as the visitors.

The Hornets are one place and two points better off from the same number of games each.
