Egremont, the form team in the National Conference Premier Division, face their toughest test tomorrow.

The Gillfoot side lost their first seven league games of the season, and were floundering at the bottom of the league.

But since then, with several key players returning from injury, they have won four out of six and their three victories on the bounce is the best form in the top flight.

Tomorrow will be a hard one as they are up against Rochdale Mayfield, who were the first team to take a point off champions Siddal.

They would have been up to third last week but were surprisingly pipped 35-34 at home by Myton Warriors after a helter-skelter of a game.

They have some very good ex-pros in the ranks and will be seriously smarting from that narrow defeat when they take on Egremont in west Cumbria.

However, John Paul Brocklebank’s side know that they are not yet clear of the relegation dog fight and need to maintain their excellent run of form.

Their local rivals, Wath Brow and Kells, both play out of the county after a weekend of inactivity.

The Hornets travel to Myton, understandably boosted by that fine win at Rochdale Mayfield.

Siddal’s recent stutter – a draw and a defeat in successive weeks – gives the chasers hope they can be caught.

Third-placed Wath Brow are six points behind the champions but do have two games in hand. At the moment, they sit three points behind Thatto Heath but have two games in hand of the Crusaders.

Thatto Heath have been involved in some strange results recently and Kells will have noted that ahead of their visit there tomorrow.

Kells are mid-table but have games in hand of the teams above them that, if won, would lift them to fourth.

Glasson, who are having a terrible run with heavy defeats against Seaton and Hensingham, are in action tonight.

They have a home clash with champions Distington, who appear to have re-found their mojo.

The big game tomorrow is at Ellenborough, where league leaders Hensingham are the visitors.

Having toppled Distington earlier in the season, Elbra have their sights on ending Hensingham’s fine unbeaten record. The other game sees Seaton Rangers entertain Wath Brow Hornets.

The Iggesund Cumberland ARL programme also kicks off tonight with Lowca hosting Flimby. The top game tomorrow should be at Kells where the home side entertain league leaders Cockermouth Titans.

Bottom side Broughton Red Rose visit Aspatria in the other game.
