Penrith face West Hartlepool test in EDF cup third round

Penrith have landed another home draw in the third round of the EDF Energy Intermediate Cup.
After their victory over Rochdale at Winters Park on Saturday they have picked-up a home tie on December 13, this one against West Hartlepool.
They are currently a level higher than Penrith, mid-table in North One with four wins and five defeats so far.
On Saturday they won 37-12 at Durham City who are in North Two East along with Penrith.
The other ties in the northern section will be: Driffield or Gateshead v Sandal; Darlington v Middlesbrough and Rossendale v West Park St Helens.
In the EDF Energy Senior Vase fourth round there were mixed fortunes for the two surviving Cumbrian teams.
Wigton must travel to the winners of either Gosforth or Scarborough, who were unable to play on Saturday while Kirkby Lonsdale entertain Dukinfield.
On the face of it both should fancy their chances of making further progress.
Gosforth will try and stage their postponed tie with Scarborough this Saturday. It was called-off at the week-end because of what were described as “severe weather conditions.”
They will expect to win the game, following their 23-20 second round win at Keswick. Scarborough just got through 9-8 at home to Wheatley Hill Doncaster.
Neither are tearing-up any trees! Gosforth lie eighth of 12 in Durham/Northumberland One with three wins from nine games while Scarborough are rock bottom of Yorkshire One with just one win in nine games.
Kirkby Lonsdale will fancy their chances even more at home as their opponents are rock bottom os South Lancs Cheshire One without a League win. They got through with a 22-12 home win over Littleborough.
Those games are also due to be played on December 13.
Cumbria's fourth-surviving team in national knockout rugby, Kendal, face a long trip to Blackheath in the third round of the National Trophy.
