Karl Dixon will cap a fantastic week when he skippers English Lions Under-18s against their Welsh counterparts at Leigh Miners Rangers on Saturday (2.30pm).
The Wath Brow stand-off last weekend helped steer the Hornets in to the National Conference League Grand Final and is joined by club-mates Ian Curnow and Charlie Tomlinson in the international squad.
A fourth teenage Hornet Scott Pink misses out this weekend but will re-join the expanded 26-man party later this month when they reconvene to prepare for a game against the touring Australian Institute of Sport on Wednesday, December 5.
Other Cumbrian interest comes with the inclusion of Daniel Rowell (Kells), Nathan Lucock (Glasson Rangers), Ethan Kelly (Millom) and Perry Singleton (Barrow Island).
Coach Kelvin Lockett said: “We’ve had some good games against Wales in the past and I’m sure this one will be no different.
“I’m expecting them to be a very competitive side and they had a good hit-out against Scotland last week so will be well prepared.
“Our own preparations have gone well and I’m very happy with the way our training sessions have gone.
“Saturday’s game will be a big test for us but we’re all really looking forward to it.”
