Former Workington Town stars to play for New Zealand at Maryport

Two former Workington Town legends will line up with some major international names at Maryport this weekend for a New Zealand Select.
Former Town forwards Brad Hepi and Anthony Samuels will link up with ex-Haven prop Dennis Smith and a host of top names who have graced Super League, to pull on the NZ jersey.
They will take on the Great Britain All-Stars in the second match of a three Test series in aid of the Life for a Kid charity.
New Zealand will feature former St Helens star Vila Matautia, along with ex-Leeds stars Willie Poching, Esene Faimalo and Carl Hall.
Ex-Castleford and Halifax coach and former New Zealand international Gary Mercer will also don his boots in Saturday’s clash which kicks off at 3pm at Maryport ARLFC.
Hepi was part of one of the most successful team’s in Town’s modern day history, playing in the 1994 Premiership win at Old Trafford and seeing Town make the inaugural Super League. He also had spells with Hull and Castleford.
Tough tackling Samuels joined Town in the late 90s after a short spell with Widnes and quickly became a firm fans favourite. He also represented the Cook Islands in the 2000 World Cup.
The Great Britain All-Stars also have an impressive line-up for fans of the game to sit back and enjoy.
GB legend Garry Schofield is the player/coach of the side and ex-Wigan great Gary Connolly features with other top names such as Paul Newlove, Mick Cassidy and Tommy Martyn.
There will be a curtain raiser at 2pm involving four junior sides and the main event kicks off at 3pm. Admission is £5 for adults and £2 for under-16s and OAPs.
