Cockermouth and Kells will contest the final of the SJR Cumberland Cup after contrasting semi-final victories.

In a tight battle, Cockermouth just edged out Glasson 14-10 while Kells had a bit more in hand in their 36-10 home win over Maryport.

It was nip and tuck at Cockermouth where the sides were locked together 4-4 at the break but the Titans just did enough extra in the second-half to book their place in the final.

Jack Clark, Ryan Burns and Liam Wild scored he Cockermouth tries with Clark putting over a goal. Brad Nixon scored both the Glasson tries while Thomas Dixon kicked a goal.

Kells and Maryport were also level at half-time at 6-6 but Kells turned on the power in the second forty minutes to win with a bit to spare.

Lewis Wilson (2), David Lowery, Craig Benson, Ben Milburn, David Dickinson and Lewis Smith all went in for Kells’ tries. Ross Gainford kicked four goals.

Ellis Nixon and Sam Forrester scored the tries for Maryport with Marc Walker adding a goal..

Only one of the Dale Campbell-Savours Cup semi-finals was played at the week-end because Flimby couldn’t take-on neighbours Ellenborough Rangers as their pitch was waterlogged.

In the tie that did go ahead Kells A won through 40-10 at Frizington to make it a good week-end for the club, with both teams reaching Cup finals.

Frizington stayed with them until half-time, only trailing 14-10 at the change-over but they ran out of steam in the second-half and were even unable to add to their points tally.

The first half tries for Frizington came from Adam Grant and Russell Hanlon with Dean Armstrong popping over a goal.

Martin Thompson (2), Luke Richardson (2), Carl Schofield, Stephen McCourt, Tony Burns, Dan Joyce and Liam McNally scored the Kells tries. McCourt (2) and Burns kicked the goals.

There was only one game in Iggesund Cumberland ARL Division One as Seaton A were unable to get a side for the game at Wath Brow.

It wasn’t a good day for the Seaton club as the first team went down 18-14 at home to Distington in a hard-fought contest.

The sides were level 6-6 at half-time and although it was three tries apiece at the end the goal-kicking of Scott George proved vital for Distington. He was successful with three efforts while Miguel Blanco Charters only managed one for the home side.

The Seaton tries came from Scott Burgess, Tom McGeen and Andy McGlasson while Adam Ramsden, Troy Armstrong and Tyrone Dalton scored the Seaton tries.

There was a big game in Division Two in which Clifton just beat Aspatria 22-18 after holding a 10-6 lead at the break.

The Lions scored four tries to their visitors’ three with Mike Hill (Clifton) and Luke Johnson (Aspatria) kicking three goals apiece.

Jason Graham (2), Ryan Jones and Dan Riddick scored the Clifton tries with Stuart Reynolds, Luke Crossman and Mark Irwin getting over the whitewash for the Hornets.
