Workington Reds will not take FA Trophy rivals Ossett Town lightly, insisted boss Darren Edmondson.

The 41-year-old has done his homework on the Yorkshire minnows, who ply their trade two league below Workington in the Evo-Stik First Division.

Aware of the dangers they could pose when the sides meet at Stade France on Saturday, Edmondson said a first team would be sent to ensure victory.

“We are desperate to win,” he said. “It’s a nice little cash boost for the whole club if we can turn Ossett over.

“But we don’t go there with ideas above our station. We will have to work hard to win, and go through, but we are prepared to do that.”

Ossett have only won once at home this season, but have also proved difficult to beat. Drawing five times, they are 13th in tier eight of England’s football pyramid.

“It certainly won’t be easy,” Edmondson added.

“Beating us would be a scalp for Ossett, who will want to progress in the competition, and enjoy spending the prize money.

“They won’t let us have it our own way, and will be equally desperate to win in front of their own fans.”

Ossett average just 77 fans at home, and with the gate money split, Workington will not make any money unless they win. There is £4,000 on offer to the winners.

In 2010, Edmondson guided Workington to the quarter-final, beating Rushden & Diamonds, and AFC Wimbledon, but cruelly lost 2-1 to Football League-bound Stevenage.
